Did Jesus have to be God to save us?

Nowhere do we read that the Messiah had to be GOD himself in order to be able to redeem humanity. Paul even explicitly explains that salvation comes through a human being and not through a GOD-man, a demigod, or the like. Already in the Old Testament there was the principle of the kinsman redeemer, which could redeem a person under certain circumstances. This person had to be legally suitable and have the necessary resources to buy off the indebted person. Because death is the result of sin, the Messiah had to be without sin; just as the animal sacrifices in the Old Covenant had to be without flaw. This was the only requirement to redeem humanity from its sin. Jesus fulfilled this condition. His obedience enables us to be reconciled with GOD and gives us access to eternal life. This shows how great GOD's love and grace are towards us humans. The fact that Jesus was sinless does not mean that he is GOD. Because GOD is holy and absolutely free of sin, man, whom GOD created in His image, should also be sinless. Jesus was the first and, up to that point, only human being to live up to this claim. But in doing so, Jesus merely lived out what is the natural destiny of every human being.
